The Vista Optimist Club is a civic service organization which was founded in 1948. Our Mission, as with every Optimist Club, is to Bring out the best in kids. Located in the Shadowridge area of Vista, our facility sits on 11 acres of manicured grounds we call The Shadowridge Estates which includes three little league fields we call the “Field of Dreams” current home of the Rancho Buena Vista Little League. The Vista Optimist Club’s primary goal is to encourage the youth in the community to have “Strong Minds” by awarding annual scholarships to high school students through our “ Vista Optimist Club Foundation” fund which, with many years of fundraising, has allowed us to to offer these scholarships in perpetuity. The Vista Optimist Club also encourages “Strong Bodies” by providing two first class regulation little league fields and a tee ball field complete with stadium seats, concrete dugouts, and night lighting on meticulously maintained grounds. These fields are currently the home of Rancho Buena Vista Little League and hosts numerous all-star tournaments. We provide these fields at no costs to serve as an area where young bodies become strong. We sponsor many organized baseball and soccer teams. Organized sports provide a positive environment in which youth learn discipline, teamwork, cooperation and perseverance. Our annual oratorical contest teaches young people to rise above their fears and communicate their views. All these experiences help develop strong character. These are some of the programs your donations support. Can you help?
The Optimist Creed
Promise Yourself
To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.
To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.
To think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.
To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
